What to do when responding to a cry for help.
- Take a deep breath
- Listen
- Be understanding and show you care
- Remind them that their life matters and they can make it with help
- Recommend calling for help with them
- Go with them to get help
- Don’t leave them and seek help from a trusted adult figure
- Things to ask/ say
- I’m glad you trusted me to talk. If you are not with them ask their location and if you can come to them.
- Do you have a plan?
- What hurting you because I care?
- Can I take you to someone who I know can help?
Remember: You can’t do this alone, don’t take that risk, seek help!!!!
