160,000 children miss school daily due to bullying. Become familiar with the signs that prevent youth and young adults from getting an education in a safe productive environment. Pay attention to the signs closely as bullying is a life changing event for many of our youth and young adults in grade school, middle schools, high schools and college. Beware that as each case will be different not all will exhibit signs. Look for verbal and non verbal signs. If you see or become aware of any signs take action and seek help immediately.
- Not wanting to go to school, a class or an activity
- Unexplainable injuries
- Destroyed personal items I.E. clothing, book bags, laptops, books etc
- Frequent headaches or illnesses
- Faking illnesses
- Changes in habits that include going to events or activities
- Binge eating at home (this may be due to lunch money or lunch being taken
- Frequent Nightmares
- Declining grades, loss of interest in schoolwork, or afterschool activates
- Sudden loss of friends or avoidance of social environments
- Low or decreased self esteem
- Saying no one likes me or I’m ugly
- Saying I can’t make friends
- Running Away or other self-destructive behaviors
- Talk of wanting to die (Suicide)
